If you lost your eyeglasses, would you not try to find them?  What would you think of someone that simply learned to squint, rather than invest time into an effort to locate what they lost?  Sadly many do exactly that with their misplaced integrity and their damaged relationship with God!

Witness the following things:

  • The divorce rate is through the roof. And there isn’t much difference between the Church and the world on this score, especially when you consider that Christian couples are much more likely to tie the knot instead of just cohabiting.
  • Ministerial failure is at an all time high.
  • The lure of the old lifestyle for new Christians is strong. Church retention of new converts is heartbreakingly low.
  • The ever-present problem of those who forsook their relationship with the Lord and now desire restoration is a fundamental outreach of any ministry.

The good news in all cases is that God is a God of restoration!  Once people understand the reason for good and proper boundaries, the work of restoration can begin in earnest. After building the walls and putting procedures in place to guard them, the work of restoration can become internalized with consecration being the result.

Finally there is a book that applies the real premise of Nehemiah's great work of rebuilding to believers today. Nehemiah is a case study in rebuilding after failure. Building God's Wall makes the lessons of rebuilding and renewal taught in Nehemiah understandable and practical. It is a manual for all seeking restoration and renewal after a time of spiritual declension, as well as those who encourage and minister to them.

Building God's Wall guides the reader through the two major tasks of spiritual restoration: rebuilding boundaries and renewing covenant. In the process many important questions are answered - Why is worship without boundaries such a dangerous thing? What are the ten gates of worship and how do they lead to a deeper spiritual life? What are the chambers of treasure and how must they be guarded? What are the characteristics of unity and why is it such a powerful thing? These and many other issues are addressed, explained, and applied to twenty-first century believers using sound exegesis of God's timeless Word.
